Leander Starr Jameson

Leander Starr Jameson was a physician, colonial administrator and political ally of Cecil Rhodes.

Jameson served the British South Africa Company in southern Africa, became administrator of Mashonaland and Matabeleland and led the failed Jameson Raid of 1895–1896. He later served as prime minister of the Cape Colony. Wilbur Smith’s Men of Men places this figure within the commercial and colonial expansion of late nineteenth-century southern Africa.
