Historical person
George II, Earl of March
George II, Earl of March, was the last of the Dunbar family to hold the earldoms of Dunbar and March. He served in diplomacy during the return of James I from English captivity and initially remained an important border magnate.
James I later challenged the legality of his family’s restored estates, and parliament forfeited the earldom in 1435. George spent his later life in obscurity, marking the end of one of medieval Scotland’s most powerful regional lordships.
