Francis Haskell

Francis Haskell was an English art historian whose work transformed the study of artistic patronage, collecting and taste.
Haskell taught at Cambridge and later became professor of the history of art at Oxford. Parallel Lives reconstructs his youth, intellectual formation and relationship with Larissa Salmina, showing how his sense of cultural belonging and personal isolation changed through their meeting.
