Ferdinando I de’ Medici

1549–1609

Ferdinando I de' Medici was a cardinal who succeeded his brother Francesco as Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1587. His rivalry with Francesco and hostility to Bianca Cappello fed rumours that surrounded the couple’s deaths, although the historical cause remains disputed. Robert Elegant uses that suspicion as part of Bianca’s dynastic intrigue.

This record is supplied for the Robert Elegant book enrichment and should be linked only where the person is substantively represented in the novel.
