Butch Cassidy

His flight with Harry Longabaugh, the Sundance Kid, and uncertain death in South America helped turn a regional criminal career into one of the most persistent legends of the Old West.
Born Robert LeRoy Parker, Cassidy became associated with the loose group of robbers later known as the Wild Bunch and took part in a series of bank and train robberies across the American West. Increasing law-enforcement pressure drove him, Harry Longabaugh and Etta Place to South America. Cassidy and Longabaugh are generally believed to have died after a shoot-out in Bolivia in 1908, although the circumstances remain disputed.
