Historical person
Annabella Drummond
Annabella Drummond was queen consort of Scotland through her marriage to Robert III. She played an active dynastic role and worked to secure the position of her eldest son, David Stewart, Duke of Rothesay, as heir to the throne.
Her life was shaped by the weakness of Robert III’s kingship and the rivalry between royal princes and the Duke of Albany. Her death in 1401 removed an important protector of Rothesay shortly before his imprisonment and death.
