Alum Bheg
d. 1858
Alum Bheg was a havildar in the 46th Bengal Native Infantry who joined the 1857 uprising and was executed at Sialkot by being blown from a cannon.
Bheg’s surviving skull and the note identifying him provide an unusually tangible link to the violence, punishment and contested memory of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
