Theophrastus was Aristotle’s successor at the Lyceum and an important Greek writer on character, plants and philosophical inquiry.

Theophrastus led the Lyceum after Aristotle and wrote across many fields. His Characters offers concise sketches of social types, while his botanical works are among the most important surviving ancient studies of plants.
