Palestine and Israel, 1920–present
c. 1,920–1,973
This context provides a neutral parent for modern histories of Palestine and Israel from the beginning of British civil administration in 1920. It contains British Mandate Palestine, the Arab Revolt, the Nakba and Palestinian displacement, the establishment of Israel, and the subsequent Arab–Israeli conflict.
The branch is intended to keep related but distinct experiences together without placing Palestinian history beneath Modern Israel or treating the Mandate period as part of the post-1948 state. More specific child contexts should be assigned directly to books wherever possible.
