Pelasgus

Pelasgus was a name used in Greek myth for early kings and ancestors of the Pelasgian peoples. Different traditions place Pelasgus in Argos, Arcadia or Thessaly, where the figure represents populations thought to have lived in Greece before later Greek communities.

Ancient authors did not preserve a single consistent biography of Pelasgus: local genealogies made him variously earth-born or the ancestor of regional dynasties, so the figure is best treated as mythic rather than as a securely historical ruler.
