Pleasant Valley War

c. 1882–1892

The Pleasant Valley War, also known as the Tonto Basin Feud, developed in Arizona Territory during the 1880s from disputes involving cattle, sheep, land and accusations of rustling. Rival networks hardened into armed factions and the conflict spread across isolated ranching country.

Ambushes, killings and reprisals continued for years, leaving many participants dead and becoming one of the most notorious range feuds in the American West.
