Hawks Over Egypt
Hawks Over Egypt is set in Cairo in 1021 during the Fatimid period, when Diego de Guzman enters the city disguised as a Muslim and pursues a dangerous personal vendetta. Howard uses busy streets, guarded palaces and the layered tensions of medieval Cairo to create a compact historical thriller built on disguise, revenge and survival.
The story is focused less on large-scale war than on infiltration and danger inside a magnificent but unstable political world, with the city itself shaping the risks faced by the protagonist.
