Blades for France
Blades for France continues the adventures of Dark Agnes through sixteenth-century France in a story of intrigue, ambush and assassination plots. Howard places Agnes in a world of moonlit courtyards, masked enemies and unstable loyalties, using the fragmented politics of early modern France to deepen the tension beyond straightforward swordplay.
The story also develops Agnes’s independence and force of character as she refuses the roles imposed on her by family and society. Courtly conspiracy, hired swords and political uncertainty make the historical setting an active part of the adventure rather than decorative background.
