Battle of Khushab

7 February 1857 CE

The Battle of Khushab was fought on 7 February 1857 as the British expeditionary force withdrew toward Bushire after its advance inland. Persian troops under Khanlar Mirza attempted to strike the column, bringing on the principal field battle of the war.

British and Indian infantry, cavalry and artillery repelled the Persian attack and forced the army from the field. The victory strengthened Britain’s military position during the final months of the Anglo-Persian War and preceded the peace settlement signed in Paris.
