Alice Network and Allied Women Spies

Louise de Bettignies organised agents who gathered information on German troop movements and rail traffic in occupied France. Reports were passed through neutral territory to British intelligence.

Women served as couriers, observers and organisers because their movement could attract less suspicion, although arrest brought imprisonment and severe punishment.

The Alice Network uses a fictional British agent and her postwar search to connect this real intelligence history with the unsettled aftermath of both world wars.
