The Manor House

The Manor House series is set around Summerfield Manor and its neighbouring English village between 1880 and 1883. Across three novels, aristocrats, servants, shopkeepers and professionals confront hidden parentage, financial pressure, unsuitable love and the changing opportunities available to women in late Victorian society.

Rather than treating the estate as an isolated world, the series shows how decisions made above and below stairs affect an entire community. Inheritance and marriage remain powerful, but work, enterprise, forgiveness and Christian purpose increasingly allow the women of Summerfield to define lives beyond the roles assigned to them.
