John Surratt Jr.

John Surratt Jr. was a Confederate courier and associate of John Wilkes Booth who was accused of involvement in plots against Abraham Lincoln. John Surratt Jr. John Surratt Jr. is generally dated to 1844–1916.

Surratt acted as a Confederate courier and was associated with John Wilkes Booth’s circle before Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. He fled the United States, was eventually captured in Egypt and returned for trial in 1867; the jury failed to reach a verdict and he was not retried.

Her friendship with Anna Surratt and her connection to the Surratt household place her close to the conspiracy investigation, while disturbing evidence suggests that her respected physician uncle may be obtaining bodies illegally for anatomical study.
