Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

1756–1791

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart displayed exceptional musical ability in childhood and toured European courts with his family. After service in Salzburg, he settled in Vienna and worked increasingly as a freelance composer, performer and teacher.

His works include the operas The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute, numerous piano concertos, symphonies and chamber pieces. Mozart’s short career unfolded within the courtly patronage, public concert life and social change of late eighteenth-century Europe.
