John Jay
1745–1829
John Jay was an American diplomat, constitutional statesman and the first chief justice of the United States. He helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris, contributed to The Federalist Papers and later served as governor of New York, linking revolutionary diplomacy with the institutions of the early republic.
