The Winter War

The Winter War is an accessible non-fiction account of the Russo-finnish War Between Finland and the Soviet Union. It establishes the causes, chronology and principal phases of the conflict while explaining the political aims and military resources of the opposing sides.

The book places campaigns and leadership within their wider setting, including diplomacy, civilian experience, economic pressure and the settlement or memory that followed. Its historical scope is represented on HBS by Winter War, 1939–1940.
