Haig’s Generals examines the senior British commanders who served under Field Marshal Douglas Haig on the Western Front. Through biographical studies, the contributors assess the experience, strengths, failures and evolving methods of the men who directed corps and armies during a war of unprecedented scale. The collection moves beyond treating Haig in isolation and asks how a wider command system learned, adapted and sometimes failed between the Somme, Passchendaele and the victories of 1918.
