Civil War Trilogy
The Civil War Trilogy follows the conflict’s eastern theatre from the approach of secession to the surrender at Appomattox. Jeff Shaara’s Gods and Generals traces the formation of the armies and the emergence of their principal commanders before Gettysburg. Michael Shaara’s The Killer Angels concentrates on the battle itself, presenting its decisions through Union and Confederate officers.
Jeff Shaara’s The Last Full Measure continues from Gettysburg through the campaigns that brought the war to an end. Together, the three novels use recurring historical viewpoints to examine leadership, loyalty and the human cost of a conflict in which former comrades and fellow citizens became enemies.
