The Moundville Duology

The Moundville Duology is set around Split Sky City on the Black Warrior River during the height of the Mississippian chiefdoms. Old White, Trader and the Contrary Two Petals travel into a political world shaped by conquest, slavery, tribute and rivalry between the dominant Sky Hand people and the subjugated Albaamaha.

Across the two novels, espionage and spiritual visions become inseparable from court politics and military ambition. The rise of Smoke Shield threatens both the ruling city and its subject communities, forcing the travellers to decide whether they can redirect events or will instead become instruments in a wider struggle for control of the Black Warrior Valley.
