The Dusk Country
First published 2024
Koracoo and Gonda have recovered their own children, but Wrass, Zateri and other captives remain exposed as Gannajero’s control begins to fail. The children flee in separate groups, knowing that capture may mean sale into distant communities from which they can never return.
Wrass is injured and deliberately abandoned as bait, forcing both the rescuers and escapees to risk themselves for others. The novel deepens the uneasy cooperation among traditional enemies and shows how the rescue mission begins to challenge the assumptions that keep Iroquoian communities locked in retaliatory war.
