Book
People of the Black Sun
First published 2012
Dekanawida’s message of peace is rejected as Atotarho prepares to destroy the Standing Stone People and then dominate the remaining Iroquoian nations. A violent storm disrupts Atotarho’s attack and gives Dekanawida the authority of a prophet, but it does not end the military threat.
Dekanawida turns to Baji and Hiyawento to carry the argument that no nation can survive alone. Their mission requires them to enter hostile communities, overcome memories of murder and captivity, and build the political trust from which the future Haudenosaunee Confederacy may emerge.
